Shiok

Had a desire to eat Singaporean food so Lisa and I decided to try this new restaurant at the Fort Stopover named SHIOK, which according to Lisa meant good or tastes good in Singlish.

When we got there there were about 3 tables occupied by diners and there was only 1 waiter serving the whole place, which of course made service slow. I wanted to order the Hainanese Chicken Rice but it was out of stock so i ended up ordering the Soy Hainanese Chicken Rice. the chicken was good although not exceptional. I liked the Ginger sauce but found the Chili sauce lacking. They also served Hoisin sauce instead of Dark Soy. Lisa ordered Nasi Lemak which turned out to be a Monumental Flop, one could get beter tasting fried chicken at a carinderia in in the middle of a storm. The Roti Prata was ok although we would have preferred it to be more flaky, what was dissappointing though was that the curry dipping sauce used for the Roti is the type of curry used in Japanese Curry dishes. The Sambal Kangkong had good flavor but we got served more stalks then leaves, they could have at least cut it into bite sized and chopsticks friendly pieces. The Char kway teow was dry and a bit burned. I would go back to Shiok and just order the chicken.

Behrouz

I'm Pretty Sure that everyone knows about Behrouz, the quintessential Persian Restaurant for Filipinos. I dare say Behrouz paved the way for Persian Food to enter the mainstream Filipino Palate. Whenever Lisa and I would head over to Behrouz we always Order the Kobideh which is a set meal of 2 Beef Kebabs, Basmati Rice with Butter, and Grilled tomatoes. Then we order extra grilled onions, a Chicken Kebab or Chicken BBQ and if its available the Salad Oliveyeh, which is made of Potatoes,Chicken,Eggs, and Mayo (creamy goodness) .

Cafe Metro

There's a small restaurant at the ShangriLa Mall in Ortigas that serves good home cooked Filipino meals. If you find youorself at the Mall Try Eating at Recipes by Cafe Metro. I think they have other branches around the Metro buut this is where me and Lisa ate.

San Jacinto

Had a craving for home cooked Chinese Food one night and where did we go to?...The Classic of Course! Panciteria San Jacinto, Located along C5 in front of Tiendesitas. Iv'e been eating in Panciteria San Jacinto since i was a kid. Although it was in their branch located along Q.Ave beside Delta Theater. The taste hasn't changed and the food never fails too please my discerning appetite :) . What's Good about San J(thats what i call it now) is that you can order their food in Poquito sizes which means you can order small servings of the different items, Sort of like a Degustacion menu :) You need not worry about the prices since San J is very friendly on the budget. I vouch for anything on the Menu, but be sure to order the Best Lumpiang Shanghai in Manila ...
